Rock Out like an American Idol
Wanted to reach out to you before I take off again; I just got back from Los Angeles and The Oscars and the people were amazing. Thank goodness for my assistant, she took great care of me, keeping me hopping from party to party! We spent the weekend getting all dolled up, gown and all. It was lots of fun. More to come…
Have you been watching American Idol? I am excited about this season because of the caliber of talent. I never stop being amazed at what is possible when you set your intention and focus on your dreams! Sometimes it helps to hear someone be honest with you about this stuff. Every year the judges state that song selection and getting people to vote is key. You have some leverage if you take these two points and you KNOW WHAT TO DO! (Or not to do!)
On Thursday night (March 10), American Idol cut one of its top contestant. It was an anxious and enthralling episode with contestants being in the bottom three waiting to hear who was going to be eliminated. Ashton Jones was eliminated.
The 3 judges talked about Ashton Jones having the confidence and the attitude of a diva, but she couldn't get America to vote for her and was the first to get cut from the show. Ashton has an amazing voice, talent and look but that couldn’t keep her on the show either. Later I heard her say it was in God’s plan. I have a different take on it. To succeed in the entertainment business and make an impact in the world, it is not enough to be great at what you do, you have to sell yourself, and set yourself up for success.
It is really quite simple. The world is full of people who can sing and many of them sing beautifully. Having a beautiful voice is simply not enough. You must embody “it.” The “it” factor is a must. You must stand out. What makes you different? What will make me want to jump up and buy your music? You must command attention. Not every person has this skill but the ones who do---SHINE!!!
Here’s my take on a few of the Idols that SHINE!
Let’s start with my man Casey Abrams. Seriously……the man can sing! He doesn’t just sing….he can SANG!!! When he starts to sing and that soulful sound flows from his mouth, I get chills down my spine. He is one of my top 2 picks but even if he does not win Idol…..he WILL have a contract with someone and he will be around for a long time. Casey’s don’t come around every day, so I will be sure to watch on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s this season, so I can continue to see this star SHINE!
James Durbin is my other pick to be the last one standing. The first moment I heard his powerful, rocker voice fill the air, I melted like butter. You can tell that James feels whatever song he chooses to sing. It illuminates throughout his entire body and flows effortlessly through his mouth. He is consistently himself and doesn't change for anyone. That is star quality! The power behind his voice is insane and very few can come close to his passion. I dare you to watch American idol and not simply fall in love with James.
I am excited about this week’s idol and I hope these hopefuls bring it up a notch. This ain’t a cruise ship baby. We are looking for a STAR!
I know a lot of people out there are talking about who will win, who has what it takes to go all the way. Who advances? Here are my must-haves to make it to the top.
